JINDABYNE
CHAMBER COMMERCE |
The Jindabyne Chamber of Commerce was first established
in 1980 as a forum for local business people to deal with issues impacting
on the Jindabyne business community.
At that time, the main issue with which the Chamber
was concerned was the Skitube development. The Chamber went into recess
in 1991 but was re-established in 1993. It has continued since that time.
Key issues with which the Chamber has been involved
include:
- The establishment of the Snowy Region Visitor Centre
- The establishment of toilet facilities on the Lake
Jindabyne foreshore
- Providing community comment on a range of issues
including the establishment of a McDonalds, traffic management issues,
the plan of management for KNP
- Comment and lobbying on environment and planning
issues associated with SRSC including bed numbers for accommodation
establishments and illegal accommodation
- Customer service standards and awards in the area
- Development of infrastructure including the shared
pathway and the cycle track
- The coordination and implementation of events
